Frequently Asked Questions

There's no such thing as a silly question. If your query isn't answered below, drop me a message and I'll do me best to help.

What is hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is an antenatal course that uses birth education as well as relaxation & breathing techniques to help you achieve a positive birth experience. It's practice is based on using hypnosis to let go of fear and take hold of your innate ability to give birth confidently. Hypnobirthing explains the physiology of birth, allowing a greater appreciation and understanding of your body's and baby's role and capabilities in labour and birth. Many hypnobirthing practices can be used in every day life, not just for labour and birth!

How soon can I start hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing can be started at any point during your pregnancy journey, though if you've never used it before, I'd usually recommend anytime from 20 weeks onwards, and the sooner the better. This is simply to allow you enough time to practice, practice, practice, and develop those positive habits ready for the main event. It also means you'll get more time and support from myself, if you have any questions or concerns.

What counts as a Birth Partner?

A Birth Partner is a person who you, the expectant mother, want to be at your side when the time comes. You want them to help you through your labour, to provide support and to be with you when your baby arrives. They are a powerful advocate for your needs and wishes, and it is an honour to be asked to act as a Birth Partner. They are often the birthing person's significant other and/or father of the baby, but they can also be mothers, sisters, best friends and Doulas. Anyone who makes you feel happy, loved and safe can be your Birth Partner.
